Nova Scotia, I love you

Today, we take pause to remember, reflect, mourn and question the recent events in our beautiful home province of Nova Scotia. Some of us have been away a very long time, but home is never far from our hearts. We grew together, loved together, and moved on in life together. Together, we are strong. But now, some of those we loved are no longer together with us and we are left behind to make sense of this senseless and unfathomable tragedy. What goes on in the heart and mind of a man to make him partake in such acts of violence? We want….no we DEMAND answers to help us make sense and navigate through the horrors of what can only be described as pure evil. As a Christian, I can offer to share what has helped me and my family make sense of troubling times. Excerpt From The Gospel According to Paul Daily Devotional Day 2 The gospel of Jesus Christ is a message of divine accomplishment. It is an announcement that Christ has already triumphed over sin and death on behalf of hopeless sinners who lay hold of His redemption by faith alone. This is grace-based religion. The focus is on what God has already done for sinners. But to appreciate how such a message is good news, a person must know himself to be a wretched sinner, incapable of making an adequate atonement and therefore powerless to earn any righteous merit of his own—much less obtain redemption for himself. The sinner must feel the weight of his guilt and know that God is a righteous Judge who will not sanction sin. Poking righteous fun

Being on Facebook has it’s ups and downs.  I thoroughly enjoy funny cat, dog and baby videos.  I laugh at the memes posted on various fibromyalgia groups I am part of that make light of our very real and painful disease.  Laughter is really a great medicine.  But we must always examine our hearts when we are posting what we think is funny.  What is the true motive of our post and what will others perceive it to be?  Now I know we can’t please everyone and it doesn’t matter WHAT we do there will always be someone out there who will just...not...get it.  But even in those cases we can take precautions and measures to make sure that even though it won’t be taken in the spirit it was intended, that we can stand before the Lord and say I did my best.
